21,000 to get potable water

The Emirates Red Crescent has opened two water wells in Al Zahari and Yakhtal districts, north of Mocha Directorate in Taiz Governorate in Yemen.

The wells will provide 21,000 Yemenis with access to potable water. As part of the UAE Water Aid campaign 23 solarpowered artesian wells were dug along the Red Sea Coast of Yemen.

UAE officials said the solar energy systems consist of 144 solar power panels that will ensure availability of water 24 hours a day.
