Main accused in Amritsar attack arrested

Punjab Police said yesterday Avtar Singh, the main accused, in the grenade attack on the Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in Amritsar district had been arrested.

Director-General of Police Suresh Arora told journalists that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the accused, Arora said. Singh allegedly threw a hand grenade on followers of the Nirankari sect when they assembled for a prayer meeting in Adliwal village on November 18. The attack left three people dead and 15 others injured.
