Bu Amim to head World Chambers Federation
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that its President and CEO, Hamad Bu Amim, has been appointed Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce’s World Chambers Federation, WCF, the International Chamber of Commerce’s forum uniting a global network of 12,000 chambers and their respective business communities.
The announcement came during a WCF General Council meeting held at the Dubai Chamber’s headquarters. Bu Amim, who previously served as Deputy Chair of WCF, will assume his new position at the beginning of 2019 for three years.
Bu Amim will supervise the WCF’s efforts to foster and facilitate collaboration and cooperation between chamber leaders and their members worldwide.
Bu Amim succeeds Peter Mihok, President of Slovakia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who held the position for the last six years. This is the second time that an official from the Middle East is elected WCF Chairman after Adnan Kassar, President of Beirut Chamber of Commerce and President of the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce and Industry, held the position between 1991 and 1996.
