Trader fined Dh1.12m for not paying workers
An
owner of a fruit company, who was fined Dh1.12 million for leaving his 112 workers unpaid for three months, has challenged the verdict.
In July, the Misdemeanours Court fined the Bangladeshi owner Dh10,000 per worker despite having pleaded not guilty. He appealed the primary punishment before the Appeal Court that upheld the fine in September.
The defendant then challenged his appellate ruling before the Cassation Court where he renewed his not guilty plea. (Staff Report)
