Dubai Police rescued seven sailors when their boat capsized off Palm Deira late on Sunday. Sea rescue teams provided first aid to the sailors and transferred the second sailor who broke his leg to hospital.

Lt Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, director of the Sea Rescue Department in Dubai Police, said: “The waves were as high as seven feet. The sailors were on a ship transferring goods and didn’t have GPS to locate where they were,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dubai Police recorded 147 traffic accidents from 6 to 10am due to the rain yesterday. The Dubai Police Command and Control Unit logged 2,566 emergency calls.

Colonel Mohammad Al Muhairi, deputy director of the Command and Control Unit, urged motorists to be cautious.
