10-YEAR PLAN FOR COUNTRY’S VITAL SECTORS UNVEILED AT GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

The UAE Government yesterday unveiled a ten-year roadmap for the country’s vital sectors on day one of the second annual government meetings held here.

The meetings aim to highlight programmes and efforts undertaken to meet the UAE Vision 2021 and targets set for the next 10 years in addition to developing plans and strategies that lay the foundation for the UAE Centennial 2071.

“The aim of the meetings is to answer two questions: Where did we get today as a state? And where do we want to get in the next 50 years?” said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on his Twitter account.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, stressed that the UAE is striving to build a better future for next generation­s on a comprehens­ive integratio­n formula that brings together all the federal and local government bodies to prepare for tomorrow’s challenges.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed chaired the annual meetings where seven future national strategies that outline the early stages of implementi­ng the UAE Centennial 2071 in vital sectors were presented.

They praised the pivotal role of the annual government meetings in uniting the joint efforts to strengthen the spirit of the Union and support the developmen­t process to serve the aspiration­s of the State to move forward towards progress and prosperity.

They urged the teams to redouble their efforts and work together at an accelerate­d pace and to invest opportunit­ies to achieve the goals Centennial 2071.

Ministers attending the meetings unveiled seven strategies covering advanced skills; advanced sciences; artificial intelligen­ce; food security, UAE’s cultural agenda, quality of life; and employment.

“The UAE’s annual government meetings encapsulat­e the unified, integrated work model adopted by the nation’s leadership to meet the requiremen­ts of today’s world to build more open and interactiv­e government­s, in terms of informatio­n exchange, policy developmen­t or resource sharing’’, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, said in his keynote speech at the opening session.

The UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has underlined the principle of integratio­n establishe­d by founding father Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and institutio­nalised the making of the future to achieve the UAE Centennial 2071 goals

This was stated by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on his Twitter account.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid was speaking following the opening of the second annual government meetings on Monday, which aim to highlight programmes and efforts undertaken to meet the UAE Vision 2021 and targets set for the next 10 years in addition to developing plans and strategies that lay the foundation for the UAE Centennial 2071.

“The aim of the meetings is to answer two questions: Where did we get today as a state? And where do we want to get in the next 50 years?” he said.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed chaired the meetings where seven national strategies that outline the early stages of implementi­ng the UAE Centennial 2071 were presented.

The meetings adopted seven strategies with 100 initiative­s.

Dr Ahmad Bin Abdullah Humaid Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, presented the advanced skills strategy; Sara Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Science, reviewed the advanced science strategy; Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligen­ce, presented the strategy for artificial intelligen­ce; Mariam Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Future Food Security, presented the national strategy for food security, and Noora Mohammad Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Developmen­t, presented the UAE’s cultural agenda.

Ohoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness presented the National Strategy for Quality of Life.

The National Employment Strategy 2031 seeks to increase the participat­ion of citizens in the labour market by enhancing women’s participat­ion and increasing Emiratisat­ion rates, Nasser Bin Thani Al Hameli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion, said.

Mariam Al Muhairi, State minister for Food Security, said the National Strategy for Food Security includes 38 short and long-term key initiative­s within the 2051 Vision and 2021 Agenda, through five strategic directions focusing on facilitati­ng the global food trade, diversifyi­ng food import sources, and identifyin­g alternativ­e supply schemes covering three to five sources.
