Ambassador promises assistance
Mohammad Imran, Bangladeshi Ambassador to the UAE, told by phone that Hamdan will head home once all the required documents are in place. “Child trafficking is a concern, which is why we insist on a birth certificate before issuing an exit permit. It carries the names of the parents. We hope to issue the permit for the boy soon.”
Imran said so far more than 20,000 people have approached the embassy for new passports or exit permits since August 1. “We have issued nearly 6,000 exit permits for workers and their families so they can return home. The embassy will provide a one-way travel document for them to head home,” he said.
