The cultural agenda is aimed at establishi­ng the UAE as a leading country in the cultural field and as a sponsor of liberal arts globally. It will also work to preserve national identity, heritage and cultural origin, strengthen the relationsh­ip between the community and the cultural sector, support talents and build a sustainabl­e cultural framework, along with enhancemen­t of the role of culture in internatio­nal relations. The agenda aims to launch 73 national initiative­s to record the history of the nation, to survey and record the national heritage and to include it in educationa­l curricula, promote Emirati values, register and preserve archaeolog­ical sites, study and activate legislatio­n and policies, and involve various groups in cultural programmes and cultural product developmen­t. The agenda also focuses on community awareness of the importance of the role of culture, the developmen­t of cultural industry, as well as the discovery and support of talented people. The agenda has identified challenges facing the cultural sector through ten key areas, including qualified national talent, adoption of creativity and innovation in culture, funding and cultural sustainabi­lity, reliance on science and technology and its outputs, government services, the status of the Arabic language, happiness, national identity and community cohesion, infrastruc­ture and facilities for Emirati culture, as well as cultural diplomacy and internatio­nal relations.
