Culture and Heritage
The cultural agenda is aimed at establishing the UAE as a leading country in the cultural field and as a sponsor of liberal arts globally. It will also work to preserve national identity, heritage and cultural origin, strengthen the relationship between the community and the cultural sector, support talents and build a sustainable cultural framework, along with enhancement of the role of culture in international relations. The agenda aims to launch 73 national initiatives to record the history of the nation, to survey and record the national heritage and to include it in educational curricula, promote Emirati values, register and preserve archaeological sites, study and activate legislation and policies, and involve various groups in cultural programmes and cultural product development. The agenda also focuses on community awareness of the importance of the role of culture, the development of cultural industry, as well as the discovery and support of talented people. The agenda has identified challenges facing the cultural sector through ten key areas, including qualified national talent, adoption of creativity and innovation in culture, funding and cultural sustainability, reliance on science and technology and its outputs, government services, the status of the Arabic language, happiness, national identity and community cohesion, infrastructure and facilities for Emirati culture, as well as cultural diplomacy and international relations.
