It is a flavour-packed experience at the Global Village this year. With 23 restaurants, cafés and over 120 food and beverage kiosks offering a variety of cuisines from around the world, the fair is nothing less than a foodie’s haven.
As you enter the fair, you will be spoilt for choice as a host of aromas entices your senses. Here’s a sample of what you can expect at the fair:
Cheese Wheel
The Cheese Wheel dishes out huge portions of pasta straight from a giant wheel of cheese. The way it works is that through repetitive pasta and cheese mixing, the cheese wheel hollows out in the centre, turning into a perfect bowl for churning the pasta and parmesan. The pasta (Dh30 per serving) is served with truffle sauce.
Zombie Donuts
As the name suggests, these donuts come with ‘scary’ designs but nonetheless present a new take on the familiar treat. You might just end up loving them. Price: Dh10
Lassi Spot
Lassi lovers, take your pick at this spot where you can find several flavours such as berries, mango, strawberry, dry fruit and matka. Price: Dh16.
Punjabi Village
Set against the backdrop of a typical Punjabi village, you will find authentic Punjabi dishes here, including sarson ka saag (a vegetarian dish made from mustard greens and spices like garam masala, ginger and garlic, served with a special flat corn bread called makki di roti) and butter chicken. The seating is on a charpai or charpoy —a traditional Indian woven bed. The ambience is upbeat to say the least.
Leaning Tower of Mozzarella
You might have heard of the Leaning Tower of Pisa — but here you will get to see the leaning tower of Mozzarella. Don’t miss the five-storey mozzarella tower. It will please your taste buds. Price: Dh30
Skirt Burger
Ever had a bite of the skirt burger? Here’s your chance. It comes topped with shredded cheese which forms a crispy outer skirt from which the name is derived. Price: Dh25
