Court demands report on hiring of PKLI staff
The Supreme Court yesterday ordered a report from the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) about the hiring of specialist doctors and staff to carry out paediatric liver transplants.
A bench led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed that despite spending billions, the institute was still not complete. Nisar questioned why, if India could carry out paediatric liver transplants, Pakistan could not do the same. Prof essor Dr Jawad Sajid said specialist surgeons and staff were not available.
