Usman Khawaja’s brother arrested

The brother of Australia Test cricketer Usman Khawaja was yesterday charged by counter-terrorism police over a bid to implicate a love rival in a fictitious terrorist plot.

Arsalan Khawaja, 39, was arrested last morning after being pulled over while driving in Sydney. He was charged at the Parramatta Police Station, in the city’s west, with forgery by making a false document, attempting to pervert justice and lying to police. At a brief court appearance, Khawaja was bailed on condition he surrender his passport and report to police three times as week.
