Man jailed for raping show jumping champ

A man who beat up a show jumping champion and raped her has been jailed for life.

In June the Emirati man, 24, lured the Egyptian equestrian champion to his villa where he beat her up, raped her and filmed the act.

Yesterday, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the Emirati of beating the victim, raping her and breaching her privacy. The presiding judge also referred the victim’s civil lawsuit to the Dubai Civil Court. The woman had lodged a civil lawsuit, seeking Dh21,000 in temporary compensation for moral and emotional damages. (Staff Report)
