Aster honours people of determination

- Staff Report

The nearly 18,000-strong staff of Aster DM Healthcare in the UAE, GCC and India marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities — celebrated every December 3 — in a virtual gathering.

Called ‘Common Ground’, the event was broadcast live across all Aster units globally to highlight the contributions of people of determination employed across the company and celebrate its inclusive culture.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Azad Moopen, founderchairman and managing director of Aster DM Healthcare, said: “I believe that every individual who has the passion to achieve their dreams and are motivated to work hard should be given an opportunity, without discrimination. We have seen individuals challenged with a disability, driven by sheer determination and excelling at their jobs.”

“As such, we are further committing to include people of determination as one per cent of our total employee base across nine countries. Let us encourage people of determination to become active participants in society.”

‘Inclusion key to success’

Rana Fanek, call centre associate at Aster Pharmacy in the UAE and a person of determination, who has proven that they are viable members of the workforce, said: “Being differently abled should not be a hindrance in the path to your success. Inclusion is a key component to the success of corporates and the society.

“It further empowers us to become self-dependent. I am delighted to be a part of the Aster family, an organisation that truly recognises the importance of integrating all members of the society into its workforce to drive sustainable excellence.”
