Social media debate
On social media, people reacted to the findings of the study conducted in the UK and shared their own experiences of loneliness.
SekHee Tan: Feeling anxious. ‘Aloneness’ vs ‘Loneliness’ ... 1 in 5 adults have no close friends to talk to ... young adults are more likely to experience loneliness.
Andy Lawson: I have Asperger’s so making new friends is a chore for me. It’s not that I don’t want friends, I just find it extremely difficult to [start] a conversation and allow people into my inner self circle. I would add though that social media could be a factor of people becoming less social, ironically, in society.
Claes Weicher: Been experiencing this since childhood. Know a lot of people but have zero social interaction unless it’s work or party related. And it’s not because I am not trying to connect, it’s quite the contrary. With time I have learned to accept that this is the way things are but that doesn’t mean I don’t experience loneliness.
@PouTepou: When I travel I like to sit down and have a chat with the Uber driver, the waiter ... retired folks who want to share thier wisdom and young people who have all the answers.
