Teen confines girlfriend, her cousin over Snapchat affair

Ateenager who suspected his girlfriend of cheating on him has been accused of beating her and confining her and her cousin in his villa.

The girl, 18, with her cousin was in her Emirati boyfriend’s bedroom at his residence in Oudh Al Mutaina in October. According to the records, the Emirati boyfriend, also 18, suspected that she was seeing someone else, and snatched the girl’s mobile and checked her Snapchat profile.

When he discovered a chain of messages she had exchanged with another man, he assaulted her. Then he locked her in the room along with her cousin and went out. When she called him and told him that she wanted to leave, the boyfriend said he would come back home and beat her, said the records.

The cousin then reported the matter to the police and a patrol was dispatched to the villa. Later, the Emirati suspect was taken into custody.

The Court of First Instance will appoint a lawyer to defend the suspect on December 23.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Misdemeanours Court jailed the Emirati and his girlfriend for two months for having consensual sex. The girlfriend will be deported.
