Man who beat policeman has sentence reduced
A
worker who assaulted a police officer won his appeal and had his six-month prison sentence reduced to three.
The 26-year-old Bangladeshi was drunk when he was taken into custody in Dubai Media City in March. During questioning at the police station, he removed his liquorsoaked T-shirt and hurled it at the officer. He then punched the policeman in the face and also kicked him in the stomach. The Dubai Court of First Instance found him guilty of assault two months later, following which he appealed. He will be deported upon completion of his sentence.
