Abdullah Omar wins Dubai Rally

1983 - Rothmans Opel driver Saeed Al Hajri’s luck finally ran out. But for Dubai’s Abdullah Omar it came good in the best possible way when he triumphed in the Dubai International Rally. Al Hajri had been leading the Dubai event when an oil pipe broke on his Opel Manta in the middle of the Hatta mountains. Omar, holding second place at the time, needed no further prompting and held off all challengers to secure victory.
