Man killed after car rams into lamp pole

Two persons were killed in separate incidents in Sharjah yesterday afternoon, police said.

In the first incident, a 30-year-old Emirati motorist died when his fourwheel vehicle rammed into a lamp pole on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road yesterday.

According to police, the victim was speeding and lost control after his car was hit by another vehicle, veered off the road and smashed into a lamp pole.

The motorist, identified as I.S.I., died on the spot and his body was moved to Al Qasimi hospital.

The body of the deceased was later handed over to his family for burial.

In the another incident, a 25-year-old Pakistani worker was burnt to death when a fire broke out in his accommodat­ion in industrial area 10.

The charred body of the worker M.A. was found in the house and moved to the hospital, then to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.

Investigat­ion is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
