Victory Team’s five-time world champion Kevin Reiterer came up with a consistent show to land a podium spot at the end of Thai Airways Jet Ski World Cup 2018 that concluded in Pattaya, Thailand, on Sunday.

Backed by Dubai-based Victory Team, the 26-yearold did well to win the opening moto for a maximum 60 points. In the second moto, the driver claimed a second spot behind Quinten van den Bossche of Belgium to sit at the top of the standings at the end of Day One with 113 points.

In Sunday’s third moto, Reiterer took third place to maintain his overall first place with 161 points, while Frenchman Raphael Maurin was second with 154 points.

The fourth and final moto proved to be his undoing as mechanical issues handed Reiterer just 16 points for a total of 177 points, that was good enough for third place overall behind Maurin (214 points) and Van den Bossche (189).

“I looked strong on the opening day and then the ski decided to give me problems. Such things happen in racing and there is nothing we can do to rectify things,” Reiterer said. “I had my chances to go all out for a win, but ultimately it is down to machine.

Participating in the final round on the Sharjah Corniche this weekend, Reiterer has put himself in a solid position for another world title. The Austrian won the top spot for a second time this season in the Ski GP1 category at the UIM-ABP Aquabike Grand Prix of the Mediterranean in Olbia, Italy earlier this summer.
