33 punished for ditching wives

The government has cancelled the passports of 33 non-resident Indians (NRIs) for abandoning their wives, the Women and Child Development Ministry has said.

The Integrated Nodal Agency tasked to look into the matter has been issuing Look-Out Circulars (LoCs) to absconding husbands in cases of NRI marriages and to date, eight LoCs have been issued and 33 passports have been impounded, an official said. (PTI)
