Naek: Zardari, Bilawal have no link with Pak Lane Company

Documents provided to National Accountability Bureau as proof, counsel says

-

Pakistan Peoples Party senior leader Farooq H. Naek yesterday claimed that Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had no links with Pak Lane Company, whose affairs are being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Talking to media after appearing before the NAB here, he said his clients had submitted all the relevant documents proving that Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto had nothing to do with the company. Naek said the demarcation of 2,760 acres land was carried out in the presence of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), following which deputy commissioner revenue declared the demarcation null and void at the request of the civic body. After the cancellation, the land demarcation is still pending despite repeated requests by the company, he added.

He, being counsel for Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, requested the authorities to withdraw the investigation against his clients as they had no role in any affairs of the company. Naek was of the view that parliament should pass a proper legislation on accountability as that NAB ordinance promulgated as a ‘temporary’ legislation. On the occasion, PPP leader Nayyer Hussain Bokhari said that there was no concept of ordinances in a democratic set-up and that legislation was made through the parliamentary process.
