Global recognitio­n of UAE’s vision

The UAE has been recognised for its initiative­s to advance tolerance and counter terrorism and extremism in global indices.

Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidenti­al Affairs, said that the dedication of tolerance as a value in the UAE society enlightens new generation­s by preserving the legacy of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. She added that announcing 2019 as Year of Tolerance enhances the UAE’s cultural status at the global level and highlights its belief in dialogue and acceptance of difference­s, while promoting foreign relations based on solid principles of sovereignt­y, mutual respect, rejection of terrorism and extremism and acceptance of others.

Ohoud Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Well-being, and Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office, said the move to announce 2019 as the Year of Tolerance reflects the true image of the UAE values and the leadership’s vision seeking rapprochem­ent, coexistenc­e and civilisati­onal communicat­ion with peoples of the world.

The UAE must lead the way for intellectu­al, cultural and media initiative­s that further consolidat­e the values tolerance and coexistenc­e, opening up to cultures of the region and the world as a whole.”
