Trump has been increasingly strident in criticising Powell, arguing that the central bank’s policies threaten an economic boom that he sees as a validation to cut taxes and slash regulations.
After the Fed’s rate increase in October, he said the central bank was “going loco”. Last month, Trump said he was “not even a little bit happy with my selection of Jay,” as Fed chairman. Last week, he urged Powell against the expected December increase.
