Italian elected Irena director-general

La Camera currently serves as the director general for Sustainable Development, Energy and Climate at the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea. He led the European Union and Italian negotiation teams at the climate COP 20 (the Conference of the Parties) in Lima, Peru, and was the head of the Italian delegation to the three previous COPs.

The Irena assembly adopted a decision to accord honorary title of Director-General Emeritus to Ameen at the conclusion of his tenure as the first director general of Irena. The draft decision, proposed by the UAE, recognises the leadership of Ameen during the formative years of the agency.
