Contractor for Dubai’s next super-tall tower named

Besix will manage 78-storey structure in Uptown Dubai

- Staff Report

The main contractor for the first of two planned “super-towers” on Shaikh Zayed Road has been announced. Besix will handle the 78-storey project at “Uptown Dubai”, located near the Jumeirah Lake Towers district, through its Dubai subsidiary.

Super-towers are any building that is over 300 metres tall.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed, but given the prestige status, this has to be the biggest one to start the year with.

The architect is Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.

“Awarding Six Construct the contract to construct Uptown Tower is an important step in bringing the muchanticipated Uptown Dubai district to life,” said Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, which is the master-developer for JLT and Uptown Dubai. The new cluster has been conceived as a high-end mixed-use destination and will also feature extensive retail options as well.

In April 2018, DMCC partnered with Accor Hotels to bring their luxury lifestyle hotel and resorts brand, “SO/”, to the Middle East for the first time. Last August, DMCC also announced that the construction of the district is proceeding at full pace with the completion of piling and raft works for the Uptown Tower.

In April, DMCC partnered with Accor Hotels to base the “SO/” brand at the new cluster.

The new cluster has been conceived as a high-end mixed-use destination and will also feature extensive retail options as well. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
