The main contractor for the first of two planned “super-towers” on Shaikh Zayed Road has been announced. Besix will handle the 78-storey project at “Uptown Dubai”, located near the Jumeirah Lake Towers district, through its Dubai subsidiary.

Super-towers are any building that is over 300 metres tall.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed, but given the prestige status, this has to be the biggest one to start the year with.

The architect is Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.

“Awarding Six Construct the contract to construct Uptown Tower is an important step in bringing the muchanticipated Uptown Dubai district to life,” said Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, which is the master-developer for JLT and Uptown Dubai.
