A helicopter dumps water on a fire in Victoria’s East Gippsland region. Tourists and firefighters were forced to flee vast fires burning in southeastern Australia yesterday, as a heatwave rekindled devastating bush blazes across the country. In a televised appeal on Sunday, Victoria state’s Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp called on about 30,000 people vacationing around Lakes Entrance to leave immediately.
