Free parking in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah

Dubai Metro to run between 5am and 1am during Eid break

Public parking in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will be free during the Eid Al Adha holidays from tomorrow (July 30) to Sunday (August 2). Paid parking will resume on Monday.

All public parking areas in Dubai, except for multi-level parking terminals, will be free, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said yesterday.

Dubai Metro’s Red and Green Lines will operate from 5am to 1am on Thursday, 10am to 1am on Friday. The Red Line will run from 5am to midnight from Saturday to Monday while the Green Line will start at 5.30am.

Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre said parking will be free from Thursday until 7.59am on Monday. ITC urged people to adhere to Mawaqif regulation­s on resident parking from 9pm to 8am.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazien, director of public parking department at Sharjah Municipali­ty, said that while parking will be free on the three days of Eid Al Adha, certain areas will still be subjected to fees. Motorists will also have to pay for parking on Arafat Day.

DHA issues advisory

Meanwhile, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has issued an advisory to residents to continue to follow rules of social distancing,

hand washing and wearing of masks during the Eid Al Adha holiday. Dr Badreya Al Harmi, director of DHA’s public health protection department, said there will be no relaxation in rules

Reiteratin­g the government directive, Dr Al Harmi said: “Eid prayers must be performed at home. Family members should avoid giving gifts and money to children as eidiya and use electronic alternativ­es instead.”
