Is it safe to take your children to the salon?

- SUCHITRA BAJPAI CHAUDHARY Senior Reporter

Is your child in need of a haircut or trim? Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has said that it is safe to take children to salons, but make sure the salon is following guidelines while you are taking precautions.

Most importantly, wear masks and do not go to a salon if your child has fever or any respiratory ailment. If you notice that the service provider is coughing or looks ill, cancel the appointment.

Carry drinking water and refuse to accept any tea, coffee or water at the salon. Remember that salons are allowed to accept clients only by appointment, so you cannot walk in.

Insist on sterile tools

Salons are required to ensure that tools such as nail clippers, combs, brushes, and a pair of scissors must be sterilised properly and used only on one client per sterilisation. After every haircut, the tools need to be sterilised again.

As parents, insist on disposable, single-use towels.

Parents must remember that only one individual is allowed to accompany the child for the appointment.

Salons can also decline service if either the guardian or child have any respiratory infection.
