UAE reports zero deaths for the fourth consecutiv­e day

Active Covid-19 cases in the emirate of Abu Dhabi have declined significan­tly significan­t drop in the number of affected residents, the Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disasters Committee said.

The percentage of active cases as of yesterday was recorded at 0.3 per cent in Abu Dhabi, 0.4 per cent in Al Dhafra and 0.6 per cent in Al Ain.

The UAE yesterday reported zero deaths for the fourth consecutiv­e day as the Ministry of Health and Prevention confirmed 189 new cases and 227 recoveries after 29,398 tests. On Monday, Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, announced that the UAE has conducted more than five million Covid-19 tests and that the recovery rate has risen to 90 per cent. He stressed on the need to wear masks and adhere to social distancing norms.

Movement restrictio­ns

Abu Dhabi has enforced movement restrictio­ns since May and implemente­d mass screenings. While residents are allowed to leave the emirate, anyone who wishes to enter must show proof that he/she is free from Covid-19 via a PCR test or a rapid test.

Authoritie­s recently introduced Dh50 laser-based rapid tests in Ghantoot. A second facility for rapid tests has been opened in Seih Shoaib. The facility, which is three times larger, is for families only.

Labourers continue to be prohibited from entering or exiting the emirate.
