Life terms upheld for drug dealers
The Federal Supreme Court upheld the life sentences for two drug traffickers after rejecting their appeal.
The two men were arrested at a hotel after authorities received information that they were carrying illegal narcotic substances.
One of the accused told police that he had swallowed 100 capsules and called the second accused to meet him at the hotel. During the meeting, he gave 12 capsules to the second suspect.
The second accused, who also confessed to the crime, said he came to the country looking for work, and agreed to sell the capsules.
As per the original sentencing, the first accused was given life imprisonment along with a Dh50,000 fine, while the second man was given a life sentence.
Both appealed the ruling, but the Federal Supreme Court rejected their appeal due to overwhelming evidence against them.
