Jawaher tours Holy Quran Academy

A ‘ beacon shining light on beauty and broad- mindedness of Islam’, she says

The Quran has enabled the developmen­t of civilisati­on for thousands of years, paving the way for key achievemen­ts in science, value systems and philosophy, said Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Chairperso­n of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

Shemade the remarks during a visit to the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah, which was inaugurate­d in December by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The academy is home to seven museums, which offer insights into the codificati­on of the verses of the Quran. It has a collection of Quranic manuscript­s that chronicle Islam’s evolution. It also offers a global electronic Maqari’ a programme that allows people anywhere in theworld to learn about the Quran’s is nads ( references). Over 320 students from 101 countries are enrolled in the programme.

“The Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah is a beacon shining light on the beauty and broad- mindedness of Islam,” Shaikha Jawaher said.

She visited the Museum of the History of Writing the Noble Quran, Museum of Rare Qurans, Seven Readings Museum and the Museum of the Recitation Mentors and the Museumof the Scientific Miracles in the Holy Quran.

At the Museum of the Kaaba covering ( kiswa), Shaikha Jawaher inspected the Prophet Chamber’s curtains. The museum houses 18 ancient kiswas. In themiddle of the museum, there is a model of the door of the Kaaba, with an original piece of kiswa. The museum offers presentati­ons on how the covering of the Kaaba has been made since pre- Islamic times.
