Dubai Paperless Strategy saves Dh1.3b
No government entity will issue paper documents after December 12, 2021
Forty-one Dubai Government entities, which are part of the Dubai Paperless Strategy, collectively decreased their paper consumption by 82.82 per cent between February 2018 and December 2020, saving 269.8 million sheets of paper, Smart Dubai revealed yesterday.
Overall, the strategy helped save Dh1.13 billion, over 12.1 million hours of labour, and 32,388 trees, Wesam Lootah, CEO of the Smart Dubai Government Establishment, said at a virtual session.
Under the strategy, no Dubai Government entity will issue paper documents after December 12, 2021. The DubaiNow app will offer government services through one unified platform.
The strategy focuses on enhancing and improving services and internal processes, through digitisation, elimination of unnecessary documents, and further utilisation of intra-governmental shared services provided by
Smart Dubai.
The strategy was designed with three primary objectives: To meet customers’ needs and provide seamless, integrated, and proactive services; ensure global competitiveness and position Dubai as the world’s leading digital city; and boost government efficiency to save operational costs and ensure better utilisation of government resources through streamlining and digitising services provided to individuals and the business sector.
Addressing the virtual sessionn, Younus Al Nasser, assistant director-general of Smart Dubai, said: “The strategy is an important milestone in the Dubai Government’s digital transformation, and a key factor to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city on Earth.”
