AUD fetes short-film contest winners

Sarah Al Bashir wins four-year scholarshi­p to study at university

American University in Dubai (AUD) has awarded prizes to the winners of its short-film contest on the pandemic’s impact on the mental health of students.

Sarah Al Bashir, a student of Al Hikma Private School in Ajman won first place and was awarded a scholarshi­p to study at AUD for four years.

Awards were also presented with certificat­es of appreciati­on to the other winners: Shahd Al Jarman (second place), Maryam Al Janahi (third) and Shawq Al Marzouki (fourth). All of them are from Al Ittihad Private School — Jumeirah in Dubai.

The competitio­n called ‘Mental health of school students due to the spread of Covid19’ was organised by AUD’s Mohammad Bin Rashid School for Communicat­ion in cooperatio­n with the Ministry of Education and Knowledge and Human Developmen­t Authority.

Dr David A. Schmidt, president, AUD, congratula­ted all the students who participat­ed, adding that the aim of the competitio­n was to discover and support talented students.

Professor Hikmat Jabr, director of secondary girls’ department at Al Hikma Private School and Professor Iman Irsheidat, head of Arabic Language Department, Al Ittihad School, thanked AUD for inspiring creativity in students.

The presentati­on of prizes to the winners, along with Dr Sabrina Joseph, AUD provost and chief academic officer, took place last Sunday.
