WHY ARE INDIANS AFRAID TO GO HOME?

Called B. 1.617, the double mutant Covid-19 variant that surfaced in India is a result of two mutations — E484Q and L452R — merging to become a whole new virus. The new strain is believed to be extremely contagious. India’s active cases surpassed the two million mark with total cases surpassing 15 million after another record 259,170 new infections yesterday. The death toll increased to 180,530 with a record 1,761 new fatalities.

The recovery rate has dropped to 85.56 per cent.
