Abu Dhabi now offering Pfizer vaccine in 11 centres
OVER 100 CENTRES CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SINOPHARM
Abu Dhabi is now offering the PfizerBioNTech vaccine to eligible residents at 11 centres in Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
This is in addition to more than 100 centres continuing to offer the Sinopharm vaccine, the Department of Health said.
The announcement follows reminders by government officials on Tuesday for all residents aged 16 years and older to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Like Sinopharm, the Pfizer vaccine will be administered free of charge to eligible residents, but an appointment must be booked at designated vaccination centres, which include six clinics under the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) and five private centres operated by Mubadala Health.
Movement of unvaccinated people could be restricted
In a media briefing on Tuesday, Dr Saif Al Daheri, spokesperson for the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), warned that the UAE is considering taking stringent measures to restrict the movement of non-vaccinated people by not allowing them to enter certain places and avail of some services.
The NCEMA also approved the WithMyFamily app for early intervention for children under six years of age. A home education guide was also launched for families to enable them to provide a set of education skills for children of determination.
It also launched the Protect Your Health programme for people of determination affected by quarantine that encourages them to practice physical exercise at home and have a nutritious diet.
