Zayed International Award launched in Dubai
2001 - General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, inaugurated the Zayed International Award for Environment ceremony at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. Former US President Jimmy Carter received the first prize for his futuristic vision and subsequent work on poverty, human health, human settlements and peace that helped improve the environment.
