UAE launches Yahsat satellite

2011 - Yahsat, a UAE-based satellite communications company, successfully launched its first satellite into orbit. The launch puts the UAE among a select group of nations that have done so. Yahsat’s Y1A was successfully launched from the European Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana. The Ariane 5 rocket carrying the spacecraft lifted off at 1.37am Abu Dhabi time.
