Over 5,800 cases and 98 deaths registered in a day

Lahore records 18.57 per cent positivity rate

Lahore continues to report a spike in covid-19 cases and according to the Primary & Secondary Health department of Punjab, the provincial capital’s positivity rate yesterday remained at 18.57 per cent, which is a record in the current year.

In the past 24 hours, 1,466 people tested positive in the city. Overall, 28,829 tests were conducted in Punjab during last twenty-four hours revealing that 2,909 persons were infected in the province in one day.

Positivity rate remained 10 per cent in Punjab.

Covid-19 assumed alarming proportion­s in the country yesterday as 5,875 new cases

were reported in the past 24 hours. The number of patients on ventilator­s has also gone up from 455 to 522 and according to the official data released by the Ministry of the National Health Services, 98 people succumbed to coronaviru­s in one day while the number of active cases in the country surged to 84,935.
