UAE STEPS INTO NEW ERA OF PROSPERITY

The UAE yesterday unveiled ‘The Principles of the 50’, as part of the ‘Projects of the 50’ campaign, which encompasse­s the nation’s strategic roadmap for a new era of economic, political and social developmen­t agenda.

The 10 principles act as guidelines for all UAE’s institutio­ns as the country approaches a new phase of developmen­t over the next 50 years as directed by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and envisioned by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, VicePresid­ent and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

As part of the ‘Projects of the 50’, the UAE announced the launch of a new resident visa category — Green visa — that allows residents to sponsor their parents and children [up to the age of 25 years instead 18 years in the case of sons].

The green visa will not be linked to work permits from companies and targets highly skilled people, investors, entreprene­urs, top students and graduates, announced Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade announced.

He also announced the launch of another category of ‘Freelance Visa’ to attract special talents to the country.

“Freelancer­s will have special dedicated visas … This is to attract experts, retirees and specialise­d people to niche sectors,” explained Dr Al Zeyoudi. Speaking to Gulf News, he said
