Traders end their hunger strike against Covid-19 curbs
Traders in Karachi and Hyderabad ended their hunger strike after three days against what they termed undue lockdown restrictions causing loss to their businesses.
The decision was taken after talks between representatives of traders and Sindh minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
The traders began their hunger strike when they had to close their businesses daily by 8 pm while on Fridays and Sundays the non-essential shops, markets, and shopping centres remained closed. Traders said they lost Rs1 billion (Dh2.2m) every day due to the lockdown restrictions in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Shah assured the traders that he would join the stir if their demands were not accepted by the chief minister by today.
