Kuwait’s oil minister faces investigation in court case
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation refused to reinstate staffer
The Kuwait Public Prosecutor has referred a case brought against Mohammed Al Fares, Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water, who is also chairman of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, to the ministers’ investigation committee, following the corporation’s failure to implement a court ruling to annul the termination of an employee, Al Qabas newspaper reported.
The case was filed after the corporation refused to let the employee rejoin even after the Court of Cassation ruled in his favour earlier in 2015.
Last January, deputies and directors of National Petroleum Company, affiliated to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, resigned due to “administrative amendments and suspicions about promotions”.
Kuwait has the sixth-largest oil reserves in the world.
