Tamil Nadu seeks additional 10m doses of vaccines

- CHENNAI

Tamil Nadu government yesterday urged the federal government to provide additional 10 million Covid-19 vaccine doses for a mega vaccination camp scheduled to begin from September 12.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Subramanian in a letter to federal Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya requested for an additional 10 million Covid vaccines along with the equal number of 0.5ml of AD Syringes or 1ml/2ml syringes to the state.

This is in addition to the already committed 10.04 million vaccines for government Covid-19 vaccination centres, he said.

He said as a next step to increase the vaccination drive in the state, it was decided to conduct the ‘Mega Vaccination Camp’ on a weekly basis, starting from September 12.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 700 million, the federal health ministry said yesterday. The coronavirus has to be defeated and vaccination is the way to victory, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said.

“Soaring higher on Covid-19 vaccination under PM @NarendraModi ji’s leadership. 70,00,00,000 vaccine doses administered to date,” he tweeted.
