Terror attacks rock America
2001 - Two hijacked planes slammed into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre, causing both the landmarks to collapse in devastating clouds of flames and smoke killing a “tremendous number” of people. In what were believed to be coordinated terrorist attacks on the heart of the financial district, the first plane struck the north tower, and a second plane hit the south tower about 15 minutes later.
