Born in Gujarat in 1950, Narendra Damodardas Modi joined Rashtriya Swayamseva­k Sangh (RSS) at an early age and was later drafted into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Modi’s journey began in the by-lanes of Vadnagar, Gujarat. He was the third of the sixth children of Damodardas Modi and Hiraba Modi. The entire family lived in a small single storey house. His father sold tea at the local railway station. In his early years, Modi too lent a hand to his father at the tea stall. Made Gujarat chief minister in 2001, Modi led the BJP to power in the state for three consecutiv­e terms and then at the Centre back to back in 2014 and 2019. He completed his MA in political science from Gujarat University. Known as one of the most techno-savvy leaders, he is very active on social media platforms. He begins his day with Yoga.
