20-year plan for Emirati housing to cost Dh65b
Land allocated to Emirati housing projects in Dubai will be increased to 1.7 billion square feet as part of a 20-year plan announced yesterday.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved the allocation of Dh65 billion to the housing programme.
He also issued directives to quadruple the number of citizens benefiting from the housing programme effective from next year.
“We have adopted an integrated housing policy, which I will supervise myself. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, will follow up on its plans,” he said.
Dubai’s vision is to be the world’s best city to live in, he added. Developing housing for citizens is a top priority in this objective.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, highlighted the importance of streamlining efforts to implement the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on sustainability.
“The welfare of our citizens is at the centre of all our projects. Their security, wellbeing and prosperity remains our highest priority,” Shaikh Hamdan said.
