Iraqi acquitted after ‘killed’ wife found alive

An Iraqi man who was sentenced to death for killing his wife by setting her on fire and dumping her body into a river was acquitted after the woman was found ‘alive’.

It all began when the man went to the police to report that his wife was missing. He was interrogat­ed forced to admit that he killed his wife, but police failed to find her body. The Babylon police allegedly also published a video of the man reenacting jis ‘crime’ in the presence of the provincial police chief and a large media delegation.

Aftre the video went viral on social media, several citizens contacted police and informed them about the whereabout­s of the woman, which prompted the security forces to go to the place and arrest her.
