Employees told to avail of annual leave

Oman’s Labour Ministry has issued a circular to avail of the accumulated annual leave that is in excess of the entitlement. The circular applicable to those working in government, also said that the matter violates the provisions of Article 64 of Oman’s Civil Service Law, which stipulates that the employee must annually enjoy an ordinary leave of no less than 75 per cent of the yearly entitlement.

As per the law, the employees’ leave balance should not exceed two years’ entitlement except in the case of postponing, shortening, or terminating the leave for workrelated reasons.
