Jordan: Boy run over on his 13th birthday

A celebration in Jordan turned into a tragedy after a boy celebrating his 13th birthday was run over by a speeding car.

The boy had gone out with his family to a restaurant in Irbid after days of preparation for that occasion. As soon as the family finished the party, they left the restaurant and began to cross the street when the birthday boy was run over.

He was immediately taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead due to severe heart and brain haemorrhage. It was not clear whether the driver had been arrested. According to 2018 data, traffic accidents deaths in Jordan reached 2,244 or 6.77 per cent of total deaths.
