Mehbooba stopped from sensitive area visit

Authorities yesterday prevented former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti from visiting Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral town where she alleged excesses by security forces.

“Locked up in my house today yet again for attempting to visit the village in Tral allegedly ransacked by army. This is the real picture of Kashmir that visiting dignitaries must be shown instead of GOIs [government of India’s] sanitised guided picnic tours,” she tweeted and posted a picture of a security force vehicle parked at the gate of her residence.

Earlier, in her tweet, she alleged that soldiers from an army camp had ransacked civilian homes and beaten up civilians in Tral.
