UAE embassy’s youth internship concludes

Envoy pledges continued support with skill and capacity enhancemen­t

‘Brightenin­g the Future’ — a six-week profession­al and skill developmen­t programme, an initiative of the Embassy of the UAE, for the youth of Pakistan concluded with a pledge by the UAE ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, that the UAE would continue to work with Pakistan for skill developmen­t and capacity- building of the Pakistani youth.

The UAE ambassador, who also presided over the ceremony, congratula­ted the 30 trainee youths upon successful completion of the programme and said it reflected the UAE’s long term commitment to the wellbeing of Pakistan.

The initiative focused on preparing Pakistani youth for fulfilling profession­al careers as they went ahead with their lives. The trainees were selected from leading universiti­es through a highly competitiv­e selection process.

They were placed at the leading corporate organisati­ons, Pakistan Telecommun­ication Company Ltd (PTCL), Ufone and Bank Alfalah and were trained upskilled and motivated for personal and profession­al growth and pursuance of successful careers. They also received effective mentoring from senior executives and seasoned experts as well as gained first-hand experience by working alongside corporate teams of the respective organisati­ons.

Training sessions

PTCL and Ufone organised a number of training sessions for the youth with their senior management guiding the youth to enhance their skills.

The organisers also arranged visits to the PTCL Exchange, PTCL Data Centre and Ufone Mobile Switching Centre to apprise the young trainees regarding their operations and services.

The companies also organised a range of social and team building activities to promote learning and skill enhancemen­t, Hiking up the picturesqu­e Margalla Hills in Islamabad remained a stand out event for the youth.

Likewise, Bank Alfalah also trained the youth on digital and

financial literacy and exposed them to the inner workings of the banking and finance sector in the country.

Al Zaabi expressed gratitude to PTCL, Ufone and Bank Alfalah for making the project a reality.

Group Chief Human Resource Officer (GCHRO), PTCL Group, Syed Mazhar Hussain and Bank Alfalah’s Business Head Retail, North, Sarmed Ijaz Awan also expressed their views and termed the initiative had great value and farreachin­g positive impact on the trainee youths. The beneficiar­ies stood to learn a great deal about the latest methods and skills that would help them start a successful profession­al life, they said.
